Data Use and License

DollarMap publishes tables and datasets built from official and published sources: prices by state, the Cost Index, the monthly price reports and the downloadable CSV files. This page explains how you can use them.
What you can do
You may reuse, quote, chart and republish our tables, datasets and our own calculations, on any website, in news stories, research or commercial work, as long as you:
- show a visible link to the DollarMap page you used, and
- do not change the numbers or present them as your own data.
For embedding live widgets and calculators, use the code on our APIs and widgets page.
Who owns the underlying figures
Every number on DollarMap names its original source next to it. The rules of that source still apply:
- Figures from U.S. federal agencies, such as the Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Energy Information Administration, are works of the U.S. government and are generally not subject to copyright.
- Figures from private publishers, such as AAA, Freddie Mac, Kelley Blue Book, Cox Automotive, NerdWallet, Insurify and others, remain subject to those publishers’ own terms. If you reuse them, credit the original source as we do.
No warranty
The data is general information, not financial advice. We check every number against its source and log fixes on our corrections page, but we do not guarantee that it is complete or current. See our full terms of use.
