Guess first: What does a 5-night Disney World trip cost a family of four at a value resort, with tickets and food?

$6,750

Average Disney World trip cost

Walt Disney World prices are set by the Walt Disney Company and change often, sometimes by the day. The figures below are independent estimates from planning sites, not official Disney prices, so treat them as a starting point and check current rates before you book.

Here is what Disney Tourist Blog estimates a family of four pays for five nights in 2026, with tickets, a hotel and food:

Trip style Tickets Hotel (5 nights) Food Total
Frugal (off-site, 3-day tickets) $2,152 $559 $400 $3,111
Value resort, 5-day tickets $3,095 $1,184 $600 $4,879

Source: Disney Tourist Blog, Nov 2025. Totals rounded to the dollar.

None of these totals include flights, Lightning Lane or souvenirs. Disney Tourist Blog’s own rule of thumb is about $5,000 for a frugal family trip and about $10,000 for a deluxe one once everything is added. At the value tier, the cost works out to about $1,220 per person before flights (our calculation).

For couples, NerdWallet’s August 2026 estimates for two adults are:

Trip length Value Moderate Deluxe
1 night $863 $1,030 $1,738
3 nights $2,029 $2,566 $4,962
7 nights $4,326 $5,166 $10,659

Disney World ticket prices

Tickets are usually the biggest single cost for a family. A one-day, one-park ticket for ages 10 and up costs $119 to $209 through December 2026, depending on the date and park, per Family Vacationist. Magic Kingdom is the priciest park, at $144 to $209 a day.

Longer tickets cost less per day. NerdWallet puts the average 5-day ticket at about $520 per person, or about $104 a day. TouringPlans says the Park Hopper option adds $65 to $105 per ticket, and Florida’s 6.5% sales tax is added on top of the listed price.

Hotels, food and getting there

Hotels. MagicGuides lists Disney value resorts at about $130 to $250 or more a night, moderate resorts at about $285 to $540, and deluxe resorts at about $500 to $1,000 or more, before Orlando’s 13.5% hotel tax. Staying off-site is cheaper per night, and our guide to the average hotel cost per night shows how Orlando compares. Disney Tourist Blog warns that off-site guests may pay $40 to $100 more for transportation.

Food. MoneyLion, citing WDW Magazine, estimates $70 to $90 per person per day. The Quick Service Dining Plan costs about $60.47 per adult per night, per MagicGuides, and Disney Tourist Blog notes that a Kids Free dining offer on the Dining Plan in 2026 favors families with children.

Getting there. MoneyLion uses about $370 per person for a domestic round-trip flight. If you would rather drive, our road trip cost calculator estimates gas and stops. Standard theme park parking is about $35 a day, but it is free for Disney resort hotel guests, per MagicGuides.

Extra costs people forget

  • Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $15 to $45 per person per day, per Disney Food Blog’s tracking through October 2026. Disney Tourist Blog suggests it is most useful at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
  • Single Pass and Premier Pass: Single Pass rides cost about $12 to $30 each, and Premier Pass about $119 to $449 or more per person per day, per MagicGuides.
  • Special events: After-hours and holiday parties run about $125 to $200 per person, per Disney Tourist Blog.
  • Snacks and drinks: Resorts Gal budgets about $60 a day for a family of four for sodas and pretzels alone.
  • Souvenirs: No reliable average exists, so set your own limit.

  • About 1 in 4 took on debt. In LendingTree’s May 2024 survey of 2,001 U.S. consumers, 24% of Disney visitors had gone into debt for a trip, up from 18% in 2022.
  • Parents borrow the most. 45% of parents with children under 18 had taken on Disney debt, averaging $1,983.
  • Food surprises people. 65% said in-park food and drinks cost significantly more than planned, followed by transportation (48%) and lodging (47%).

  • Cost keeps people away. 60% of Americans who had never visited a Disney park named cost as a reason.

Example: a family of four, 5 nights at a value resort

Say two adults and two kids fly to Orlando and stay five nights at a Disney value resort, using Disney Tourist Blog’s value tier.

Item Cost
5-day tickets for four $3,095
Value resort, 5 nights $1,184
Quick service dining plan $600
Flights, 4 people at $370 $1,480
Multi Pass on 2 days at $25 per person $200
Parking $0 at a Disney hotel
Total $6,559

Sources: Disney Tourist Blog, Nov 2025; MoneyLion, May 2026; MagicGuides, Feb 2026. Totals are our calculation.

  1. The base trip (tickets, hotel, food) is $4,879.
  2. Flights add $1,480, about 23% of the total (our calculation).
  3. Lightning Lane on just Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios days adds $200. Buying it every day would add $500 instead.
  4. Not included: snacks, souvenirs and travel insurance. Adding Resorts Gal’s $60 a day for snacks brings the total to about $6,859 (our calculation).

How to pay less for Disney World

  1. Go in a cheaper month. In Resorts Gal’s quotes for the same package, August was about $1,196 cheaper than February (our calculation).
  2. Buy fewer park days. Per-day ticket prices fall with longer tickets, but each extra day still adds cost. Skip Park Hopper if you plan one park per day.
  3. Be choosy with Lightning Lane. Use it on the busiest park days only.
  4. Bring snacks and eat one table-service meal a day at most. Disney Tourist Blog’s frugal budget relies on groceries brought into the parks.
  5. Save ahead. A sinking fund spreads the cost over a year or two so the trip does not land on a credit card. If you are weighing other big family trips, compare the cost of a cruise.
